After talking with some friends about representation of women in tech conferences, I’ve decided to focus most of my efforts on technical talks this year. So…. what’s in store?
Predicting Flights with Azure Databricks
Databricks is a popular tool used with large amounts of data, applying to many roles – including data analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and machine learning engineers. It can be found on many cloud platforms – including Azure, AWS, and GCP. In this talk, we will look at a flight-themed end-to-end solution using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, and Power BI. By the end of this session, you will have a better understanding of Databricks’ capabilities and how it integrates with other Azure offerings.

Intro to Graph Databases: MST3K with Gremlins
Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) watched bad movies for 11 seasons from the late 80s to the late 90s. Have you ever wondered of some of the common themes – princesses, kaiju, dinosaurs, and more! – in those 11 seasons? In this blog post, we’ll explore some of those common themes while giving you an introduction to graph databases using the Azure Cosmos DB Gremlin API!
When: May 2022
From pulling code from your repo to automating test runners and deploying code, Azure DevOps offers a lot of automation capabilities to assist in the building, testing, and delivery of JS apps. In this session, we will focus specifically on how Azure DevOps can deploy a React app to Azure, While this covers one framework, we will include resources for using Azure DevOps with other frameworks as well. By the end of this session, you should feel confident in using Azure DevOps to deploy your code.
When: July 29, 2022
Other 2022 Topics
My main areas I want to focus my talks on this year include:
- Graph databases – Azure Cosmos DB Gremlin API, Neo4j, RedisGraph, TigerGraph
- Data visualizations – Power BI, Tableau, D3, ggplot, matplotlib, seaborn, pyplot, and more
- Azure programming – Working with non-.NET languages in Azure
- DevOps automation – Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Bicep
Got a group or company that would like me to speak? Know of a technical topic that I can speak to that isn’t listed here? Leave a comment on what you want to hear more about from me in the technical arena.
